In a recent interview with Sky Sports Tennis, he opened up about his thoughts on whether he has considered retiring soon or not. He stated, “I don’t have to do what fans, journalists or anyone is telling me to do. I’m qualifying for all these tournaments on my right, on my ranking, from the matches that I’ve won. Yeah, I wanna keep playing just now, so I’m not gonna stop.”
Moreover, he even acknowledged that he is not one of the popular names among the young tennis players rising into the sport. But that doesn’t mean that he has to listen to what people around him are saying; rather, he would just like to focus on his game.
This is the first time he clearly opened up about his retirement, declaring that he doesn’t want to stop. Interestingly, a few weeks ago, the British tennis player talked about taking a step below the ATP tour rather than leaving this sport.
Murray will not do ‘the easiest thing’ Since the beginning of 2018, the three-time Grand Slam champion has had difficulty advancing quickly to the third round. He has only participated in ATP 250 events this year, except the Australian Open, and he hasn’t had much luck in those. However, that does not imply that he needs to think about retiring. In a press conference, after losing to Tomas Machac in Montpellier, he stated how he plans to play in the challengers.
Murray mentioned, “Maybe I will have to play in Challengers. The easiest thing for me would have been to leave my career. But I continue because I love the game, I love to train.” Considering the current situation, he also highlighted that it will be easier for him to compete at that level. Additionally, he also said that whatever is happening around him on the court does not affect his career at all.
