Andy Murray Stays Firm in the Face of Challenging Obstacles

After the retirement of Roger Federer and Serena Williams, tennis fans thought that the pain of letting go was over. However, the reality is far from it. A lot of other players, including Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray, are struggling with their injuries, and their retirement thoughts are upsetting their fans. But now, the fans of the British tennis player have nothing to worry about, as the 36-year-old tennis star himself quashed all the retirement speculations.

Since the beginning of the year, there has been a lot of discussion going on about the two-time Wimbledon champion taking a step back from the sport. Wanting to play as long as he wants, Murray has recently made his thoughts clear.

Andy Murray brushes off his retirement thoughts For the past few months, the British tennis player hasn’t been in good form, and because of this, a lot of journalists and tennis fans have presented their opinions regarding Murray’s retirement. Moreover, the former world number one ranked tennis player’s six-match losing streak has stopped him from moving past the first round in the competitions that he has participated in this year. However, this can’t stop him.

Victorious Murray says 4 am finishes are farcical

In a recent interview with Sky Sports Tennis, he opened up about his thoughts on whether he has considered retiring soon or not. He stated, “I don’t have to do what fans, journalists or anyone is telling me to do. I’m qualifying for all these tournaments on my right, on my ranking, from the matches that I’ve won. Yeah, I wanna keep playing just now, so I’m not gonna stop.”

Moreover, he even acknowledged that he is not one of the popular names among the young tennis players rising into the sport. But that doesn’t mean that he has to listen to what people around him are saying; rather, he would just like to focus on his game.

This is the first time he clearly opened up about his retirement, declaring that he doesn’t want to stop. Interestingly, a few weeks ago, the British tennis player talked about taking a step below the ATP tour rather than leaving this sport.

Murray will not do ‘the easiest thing’ Since the beginning of 2018, the three-time Grand Slam champion has had difficulty advancing quickly to the third round. He has only participated in ATP 250 events this year, except the Australian Open, and he hasn’t had much luck in those. However, that does not imply that he needs to think about retiring. In a press conference, after losing to Tomas Machac in Montpellier, he stated how he plans to play in the challengers.

Murray mentioned, “Maybe I will have to play in Challengers. The easiest thing for me would have been to leave my career. But I continue because I love the game, I love to train.” Considering the current situation, he also highlighted that it will be easier for him to compete at that level. Additionally, he also said that whatever is happening around him on the court does not affect his career at all.

Nevertheless, what are your thoughts on Andy Murray’s retirement? Will he be able to make a strong comeback soon? Do let us know in the comments section.
