When his Baltimore Ravens took on the San Francisco 49ers on Christmas night, NFL player Odell Beckham Jr. was in a celebratory mood.
The wide receiver wore personalised cleats inspired by Santa Claus’ classic clothing and the Nike Kobe 6 Proto “Grinch” sneakers when he warmed up before the game at San Francisco’s Levi’s Stadium. In partnership with Dominic Ciambrone, well known as The Surgeon (previously The Shoe Surgeon), the “Grinchmas” cleats were designed.
The bright green fabric used to dress the right cleat was a reference to the Grinch’s fur. On the outside of the shoe, there was a functional light-up heart that could be turned on with a button press. With its plush red and white fabric and detachable hat cover, the left cleat was designed to resemble Santa Claus’ attire.

Additionally, the Surgeon gave 49ers player George Kittle a unique appearance. Kittle donned the classic Air Jordan 1 High with cleats. The tight end’s customised, customised appearance included uppers with glitter all over them in shades of red, black, and white. The cleats for Kittle were named “North Pole” in honour of the occasion, despite the fact that this hue is commonly associated with NBA legend Michael Jordan, who guided the Chicago Bulls to six championships.
On Christmas night, Beckham and the Ravens defeated Kittle and the 49ers, 33-19.
In order to get a personalised shoe, players now turn to Ciambrone as their designer. For example, he designed a custom look for boxing sensation Devin Haney, who defeated Regis Prograis on December 9, drawing inspiration from Rick Owens. Additionally, Ciambrone created specially made boxing footwear for Canelo Alvarez, the biggest boxing star, for his November victory over Jermell Charlo. Alvarez wore matching Dolce & Gabbana boxing boots in gold and purple with “Undisputed” and “Canelo” badges sewed into the uppers.
